Ok so we have to be honest, Ribs are always going to have a higher fat content than lots of other cuts of meat but for us, rather than dialling for a takeaway or picking up something quick and processed we would much rather have these as our treat for the week.
1kg babyback pork ribs chopped into ribs
Salt and pepper.
Sticky 5 spice sauce
1-2 tsp The Greedy Fox Chinese 5 spice
50ml Hoi Sin
1tbsp rice wine vinegar. Malt, white wine vinegar is ok here.
Pre heat oven 150 degree
Season ribs well with salt and pepper place in an even layer in a oven dish and cover tightly with foil and bake for 1hr.
Meanwhile place all other ingredients in a small saucepan whisk to combine and cook over a high heat to reduce by a third. Set to one side.
When ready take the ribs out of oven and drain the excess fat into the sauce, mix to combine and drizzle half the sauce over over the ribs making sure they all get a taste.
Return the ribs to the oven uncovered for 30 mins basting every 8mins or so, until sticky.
Drizzle with the leftover sauce and serve immediately.
Top with toasted sesame seeds or for a little heat try topping with fresh chopped chilli.
