What is better than stew on a cold winter night? Slow Cooker Beef Stew that you put in before you went to work and come home to zero fuss and a lovely dinner! Stew is always better the next day in our opinion so make plenty so you have leftovers. Stew just isn’t the same without dumplings so we’ve even given you a fail safe recipe for those too! Of course you’ll be too busy eating to say thank you but we know you’re thinking it!
A hearty meal for those cold nights.
500g shin of Beef chopped into Bitesize pieces
2tbsp Gluten Free Plain Flour
1 Large Potato peeled and chopped into Bitesize pieces
3 Medium carrots chopped into Bitesize pieces
2 Medium Parsnips chopped into Bitesize pieces
1 leek chopped into Bitesize pieces
A small swede chopped into Bitesize pieces
1 medium white onion roughly chopped
600ml Beef sock.
Salt and Pepper to taste.
100g self raising flour
Salt and Pepper
For the stew put the beef in the slow cooker add the flour and The Greedy Fox Smokey Steak seasoning stir to coat.
Add the other ingredients in the order list above.
Cook on low for 4 hrs.
For the dumplings.
Mix together the suet, flour, fresh thyme, salt and pepper and slowly add enough water until a smooth dough forms.
Roll into walnut sized balls.
Add to the stew turn the heat to high and cook for 45min or until light and fluffy.
